⚙ Preset: 112 x 112 px square PNG

Twitch Emote Resizer (112 x 112)

Twitch emote resizer: this preset makes a 112 x 112 pixel square PNG with transparency, the largest of the three Twitch emote sizes. Change it to 56 or 28 for the smaller ones.

Settings loaded: 112 x 112 px square PNG. You can still change them after adding your image.

How to use this preset

  1. Add your emote artwork, ideally a square PNG with a transparent background.
  2. 112 x 112 is preloaded; press Resize image.
  3. Download, then type 56 x 56 and 28 x 28 and repeat if you upload sizes manually.
  4. Upload them in your Twitch creator dashboard.

Manual upload or auto-resize?

Twitch offers two ways to upload an emote, with different file rules:

Upload typeFilesLimit
ManualThree PNGs: 28 x 28, 56 x 56 and 112 x 112Under 100 KB each
Auto-resizeOne square PNG, 112 to 4096 pxUnder 1 MB

Auto-resize is quicker, but Twitch's downscale can blur fine lines at 28 px. With manual upload you can export each size here, check the 28 px version, and thicken outlines if needed. Making all three takes about a minute: resize to 112, download, then change both boxes to 56, then 28.

Animated emotes and GIFs

Animated emotes are GIFs and follow their own rules on the same Twitch page. Use the GIF resizer with width and height set to 112, then compress with compress GIF if it is over the limit.

Twitch emote sizes

Twitch emotes are displayed at three sizes: 28 x 28, 56 x 56 and 112 x 112 pixels. Twitch can generate the smaller sizes automatically from one large upload, but uploading each size yourself gives you more control over how the emote looks when tiny. File limits depend on the upload type; see the table below.

Design for 28 pixels

Most viewers see emotes in chat at the smallest size, so a design that reads well at 28 pixels is essential. Use bold outlines, few details, strong expressions and high contrast. Text rarely survives at that size. After resizing, zoom in on the 28 pixel version to check it is still recognizable.

Transparency

The preset saves PNG, so transparent backgrounds are kept and your emote sits cleanly on both light and dark chat themes. Avoid semi-transparent glows around edges, which can look muddy at small sizes. If your source image is not square, it is center-cropped; crop it first if you want a different area.

Same sizes elsewhere

The 112 x 112 size also suits Twitch channel point icons when scaled, small app icons and badge-style graphics. For Discord emoji, see our Discord GIF page, which targets 128 x 128.

Preparing artwork

Start from artwork at least 336 to 500 pixels square so the downscaled versions stay crisp. Center the character or symbol and leave a few pixels of empty space around it so it does not touch the edges. If you draw in an app like Procreate or Photoshop, export a transparent PNG and add it here. For animated emotes, Twitch accepts GIFs; use our GIF resizer and set the width and height to 112 to prepare those. Check the final size: for a manual upload each PNG must be under 100 KB, which a simple 112 pixel emote usually is.

Frequently asked questions

What size are Twitch emotes?

112 x 112, 56 x 56 and 28 x 28 pixels. Manual uploads are PNGs under 100 KB each; an auto-resize upload is one square PNG under 1 MB.

Do I need all three sizes?

Twitch can create them automatically, but uploading each gives more control.

Does it keep transparency?

Yes, the output is PNG.

Why does my emote look blurry at 28 pixels?

Fine detail disappears at tiny sizes. Simplify the design and use thick outlines.

How do I upload Twitch emotes?

In the Creator Dashboard, open Viewer Rewards, then Emotes, choose manual or auto-resize upload and add your PNG files.

Is there a Twitch emote resizer for GIFs?

Yes, use our GIF resizer with 112 x 112, which keeps the animation.
