Compress an image to 500 KB

For a 500 KB limit, type 500 into the target box. The Oman ROP e-Visa caps attachments at 512 KB, so 500 leaves a margin. At 500 KB a phone photo usually keeps its full resolution, which also makes it a good size for email and websites. On iPhone, open this page in Safari, pick the photo and save the result to Files. For a JPEG straight from a camera, quality is reduced first and the pixel size only drops if needed.

KB and pixels together

Many forms fix both, such as 200 x 230 px and 20-50 KB. Always set the pixels first: a small image reaches a low KB target at much higher quality than a full-size photo squeezed down.

How the KB target works

The tool tries higher JPG quality first, then lowers it, and only shrinks width and height when quality alone cannot hit the limit. You keep as much detail as the budget allows.

Photos vs documents

Portraits compress well. Scans with small text need clean crops and good light; trim margins first so the KB budget goes to the text.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reduce a photo to a specific KB size?

Enter the target in the KB box and press Resize image.

Does it work with PNG?

Yes. Output is usually JPG so the file can meet tight KB limits.

How do I resize an image in KB and pixels at the same time?

Enter the width and height in pixel mode, then switch to KB mode and type the limit. The tool keeps your pixels and adjusts quality.

How do I resize an image in KB without losing quality?

Choose the highest limit your form allows and set the pixels the form needs first. Quality only drops as far as the limit forces it.

How do I resize an image in KB on a laptop or iPhone?

It works in any browser. On a laptop drag the file onto the box; on iPhone tap the box and choose from Photos.

How do I compress an image to 500 KB?

Type 500 into the KB target and press Resize image. For a 512 KB cap such as Oman e-Visa attachments, 500 leaves a small margin.
