How to use the HEIC to PNG tool
- Drop one or more .heic or .heif photos into the box.
- Wait a few seconds per photo while it is decoded.
- Download each PNG, or all of them as a ZIP.
Why PNG instead of JPG?
Most people convert HEIC to JPG because JPG is small and universal. PNG is the better choice when you plan to keep editing the image, for example retouching a portrait, adding text for a poster, or placing a product photo in a design. Each time a JPG is saved it loses a little detail, while a PNG keeps exactly what it was given no matter how often you edit and save.
What HEIC is and why it causes trouble
HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones and iPads. It stores high-quality images in about half the space of JPG, but Windows, many Android apps, older design programs and lots of websites still cannot open it. Converting to PNG gives you a file that any editor can work with.
Expect bigger files
A 2 MB HEIC photo can become a PNG of 10 MB or more, because lossless PNG has to store far more data than modern compressed formats. That is normal. If you need a small file for email or the web, use our HEIC to JPG converter instead, or resize the PNG afterwards.
Multiple images and Live Photos
Some HEIC files contain more than one picture. When that happens, every image is saved as its own numbered PNG so nothing gets lost, and a ZIP button collects them all.
Converting on Windows and Android
There is nothing to install. The HEIC decoder runs inside this web page, so it works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, Android, Mac and Linux. On a phone, choose the photos from your files or downloads folder.
Private by design
Personal photos are converted on your own device. They are never uploaded to our server, and location data from the original file is not copied into the PNG.
PNG for print and design workflows
Print shops and designers often prefer lossless files so colors and edges are not affected by extra compression before printing. Converting HEIC to PNG gives them a clean master copy. You can then crop it with our crop tool, resize it for a poster, or place it in Canva, Photoshop or Affinity without any further quality loss, saving a smaller JPG copy only at the very end for sharing.
