- Add your photo or signature; the 100 KB target is preloaded.
- If the portal fixes the pixels (for example 200 x 200), enter them in pixel mode.

Where a 100 KB limit applies
A 100 KB cap is generous for a small portrait and roomy for a signature, so it is used by portals that want readable images without huge files:

Making a file bigger, not smaller
Sometimes the problem is the opposite: a 20 KB scan is rejected because the portal wants at least 50 KB. Compression cannot add detail, but you can raise the pixel dimensions (for example 350 to 500 px wide for UPSC) and save at higher quality. Rescanning at a higher resolution is better still.
Tips
- For UPSC's triple signature, sign three times on one sheet, crop tightly and keep the width between 350 and 500 px.
- A 200 x 200 Saudi e-Visa photo needs a square crop; try resize image to square first.
- Tighter limits: 50 KB or 20 KB. Looser: 200 KB.
Keep it sharp
At 100 KB the tool can usually keep the full dimensions of a moderately sized photo and only adjust quality. With very large originals, such as 12 or 48 megapixel phone shots, it will also scale them down. That is a good thing: a 4000 pixel wide picture squeezed into 100 KB would look much worse than a clean 1500 pixel version.
For websites
For page speed, 100 KB is a good maximum for most content images. If you run many images through it, consider our bulk resizer to set a consistent width first, then compress where needed. WebP output gives even smaller files for websites if your site supports it.
