How to use the WebP to PNG tool
- Drop one or more .webp files into the box, or tap to choose them.
- Each image is converted to PNG straight away.
- Download each PNG, or save them all together as a ZIP.
Why convert WebP to PNG?
WebP is the format many websites use to load pictures quickly, so images you save from the web often end up as .webp files. Plenty of programs still struggle with it, including older design software, some office suites, and certain upload forms. PNG is supported almost everywhere and, unlike JPG, it keeps transparency. That makes WebP to PNG the right conversion for logos, icons, stickers, product cut-outs and screenshots.
Transparency is preserved
When a WebP has a see-through background, the converter keeps every transparent and semi-transparent pixel exactly as it was. You can place the resulting PNG on any colored background in a slide deck, a website builder or a design app without a white box around it.
Lossless output
PNG compression never throws detail away, so the converted file looks exactly like the WebP you started with. Note that if the original WebP was saved with lossy compression, the PNG will faithfully keep that version; conversion cannot add back detail. Expect the PNG to be larger than the WebP, often two to four times, because lossless files store more data.
PNG or JPG?
Choose PNG when you need transparency, sharp text or lossless editing. Choose our WebP to JPG converter when the image is a photo and a small file matters more, for example for email or forms with a size limit. If the PNG turns out too big, you can shrink its dimensions with the resize tool afterwards.
Animated WebP
Animated WebP files are converted using their first frame, since a PNG holds one still picture. For moving images, keep the original file or use a dedicated video tool.
Private and fast
Your browser decodes the WebP and writes the PNG on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, there is no queue, and there is no limit on how many files you convert.
Common examples
A marketer saves a transparent product image from a supplier website and needs it in PowerPoint. A developer downloads WebP icons and needs PNG for an older app. A teacher collects diagrams from the web for a worksheet in Word. In each case, dropping the files here gives clean PNGs in seconds that open in any program, keep transparency and can be resized afterwards.
