Resize an image to 2 x 2 inches

The U.S. passport photo is 2 x 2 inches with the head between 1 and 1 3/8 inches, per travel.state.gov. At 300 dpi that is 600 x 600 px. Crop to a square, type 600 in both boxes and print at 100% scale. The US passport photo preset does this for you, and the passport photo maker puts several copies on one sheet.

Without losing quality

Printing at a size your pixels can't support is what makes prints blurry. Divide your image width in pixels by the print width in inches: 300 or more is excellent, 200 is fine for small prints, under 150 looks soft. Unlike Canva or Paint, you don't need to set a DPI field here: printers use the pixel count and the paper size you choose.

Keep the right shape

A phone photo is usually taller than a 4 x 6 print. This preset center-crops to the print ratio so the counter does not crop a different strip for you. For a different focus, crop first with the crop tool.
